NetAccess Announces the launch of its new NetTalk™ Service
NetAccess is pleased to announce the launch of its new NetTalk™ service. Following extensive testing and an evaluation of various VoIP services, NetAccess began its initial offering of NetTalk™ during the summer and early fall. Client response has been very enthusiastic, and has helped us refine and develop features that make the integration of VoIP technology simple and seamless for any size of business. The service is also ideal for the home office and residential user.By allowing the transmission of voice over data networks, NetTalk™ VoIP can reduce overall telecommunications costs, and introduces added management features for call management and call tracking. NetTalk™ takes the expense and complexity out of VoIP service, and can be integrated with any existing phone system.

Domain Registration Changes
NetAccess has added to its domain registration capabilities. We are now able to register ".name" domains ($24.95/year) and ".tv" domains ($59.95/year). We have also reduced the price for ".ca" domains to $32.95/year. If you are interested in registering a domain please use the link on the NetAccess home page or contact sales@nas.net.
Extended Area Dialup Now Includes the United States
NetAccess is pleased to announce the availability of US Roaming for our Extended Area Dialup customers. Not only are you able to use your dialup service anywhere in Canada, but now over 90% of the United States is included in this network. In light of this new development we are offering a special for our Extended Area Dialup package for $25.95/month, which gives you unlimited dialup hours, Canada-wide access and United States access. NasTalk™ Long Distance
NetAccess' newest service, NasTalk™, provides inexpensive long distance to anywhere in the world. No equipment need be purchased and no Internet connection is required to take advantage of this service. You simply call one of our local access numbers, listen for a dial tone and then enter the number of the person you wish to call. Plans vary from simple pay-as-you-go plans with NO monthly fee to a low $15.95/mo plan for residential lines and $24.95/mo for business lines that provide unlimited no fee calling within Ontario, $0.03/min to the rest of Canada (excluding Yukon and NWT), $0.04/min to the United States (excluding Hawaii and Alaska) and very inexpensive long distance everywhere else. Please note that the above mentioned speeds are maximum speeds and factors such as distance from the Bell Central office and the condition of the physical phone line will affect the speed of your ADSL.
SPF - Sender Policy Framework
SPF is a new standard designed to stop email forgery. Its aim is to make spammers send email from their real domains, instead of hijacking the accounts of innocent users. SPF fights return-path address forgery and makes it easier to identify spoofs. To use SPF, Domain owners identify mail servers that are allowed to send email using DNS, and then receiving mail servers verify the sender address against this information. This can then distinguish authentic messages from forgeries before any message data is transmitted.NetAccess will be implementing SPF for the "nas.net" and "netaccess.ca" domains in the new year. If you use these domains in your email address you must ensure that you send email using the NetAccess mail servers and NOT any other mail servers. Unfortunately this may cause problems for some people if you want to use your nas.net email address AND your ISP (e.g., Sympatico, Rogers, etc.) requires you to use their email server. The only way around this would be to use NetAccess webmail if you want to send email using a "nas.net" email address. Note this will only be a problem if you DO NOT use a NetAccess connection AND if you use a nas.net (or netaccess.ca) email address.

Upgraded Mailing List Server - LISTSERV
NetAccess has added a new server whose primary purpose is the handling of email distribution lists. The server is running the latest version of LISTSERV which is a powerful email list management software solution that sets the industry standard. It allows you to easily manage opt-in email lists, such as email newsletters, announcement lists and discussion groups. LISTSERV was originally developed in 1986 and was the first email list management software available. It has since been continuously developed and is a highly robust, scalable and easy-to-use software solution. LISTSERV manages almost 400,000 lists and more than 100,000,000 subscribers. NetAccess Personnel Announcements
Tyler Bannister has joined NetAccess full-time in the position of Software Engineer. Tyler is a graduate of Waterloo University with a degree in Math and Computer Science. Prior to joining NetAccess, Tyler worked for a number of companies in Toronto and Hamilton doing software development primarily in the area of Internet-based services. We are also pleased to announce the addition of Jane Hynes as our new Receptionist and Bookkeeper. Jane is a graduate of Mohawk College with a Business Accounting Diploma. Jane has been with us since July and in addition to receptionist duties is helping with accounting functions while Lorraine devotes a large portion of her time to being a new mother.
